Greek Mythology

What we know of Greek mythology comes from a collection of narratives that explain the origins of the world, as the ancient Greeks understood it, and describe the lives and adventures of a wide variety of gods, goddesses, heroes, and heroines. Originally these accounts were passed on in the oral-poetic tradition. The sources of Greek mythology that survive today are literary reworkings of this oral tradition, artifacts and works of art.

The myths and characters in Greek mythology range from the Titans (the early gods), the Olympian Gods that followed them, the battles of Troy and Thebes, through to heroes such as Heracles and include many mythological beasts and monsters, nymphs and all manner of strange creatures.

As Greek Mythology turned into a much bigger project than I initailly anticipated, it was decided to split it into separate pages to give you access to the sections already completed. New pages will be added once they are complete. Recently added is a page on the 12 labours of Heracles (Hercules), and currently waiting to be completed is a miscellaneous list of mythological creatures.
